Microsoft® ADO.NET 2.0 Step by Step (Step by Step (Microsoft))

£3.95

OK but... - Based on the previous version (ADO.net) this book has only been fine tuned for ADOv2. Consequently first chapters are spent doing lots of stuff which is largely irrelevant for version2 but had already been written. There are a few feeble excuses that you may need to do these things (yes, possibly as an advanced user, but in chapters 2 & 3 of a step by step book? I don t think so). Painful and lazy

Good starter book but that s about all. - I bought this book hoping to get up and running fast with ADO.NET for my job but was disappointed. Whilst a good introduction this book skims the surface at best, and as soon as attempting to apply my knowedlege to larger problems I came unstuck. For example there s precious few times where I wish to do SELECT * FROM table and this was all the examples seem to cover. Some useful information was provided concerning transaction management, and similarly some of the information went beyond that available online. However, I can t but feel the book is just too basic, even for beginners.

ADO 2.0SBS - With nearly all applications these days having some kind of data connection either to a database or xml files then you will need to know and understand ADO.Net 2.0. So if you are new to this topic and want to learn from the beginning then ADO.Net 2.0 Step by Step is for you. You are walked through this mind field of information easily and throughly. This book is not a reference book but a learning aid. Examples are provided in both Visual Basic and C#.
